Winter Running

In preparation for marathon training I am getting into the swing of running in winter.  This involves looking at the thermometer, wind chill factor and determining the right combination of clothing to wear.  I often dread going out in the cold but almost always come back enjoying a nice brisk run.  When it is cold I remind myself of running 6 hours in the heat of July.  Note to self - I like winter running.

Conversation with Jim:
Me:  I am going for a run.  Do you want to go?
Jim:  How far?
Me:  The Al Foster Trail
Jim:  The whole thing?  (Astonished)
Me:  It's not that long.
Jim:  For me it is.

Yikes - I'm running a Marathon

At this particular point in time I think that it is a good idea to run a marathon.  I picture myself gliding along the trails enjoying nature during my training runs.  I see myself laughing through runs with my running friend, Kathy.  I feel my legs getting stronger and faster.  It will be fun.  It will be fabulous.  It will be fantastic.  I can't wait.   Official training begins January 1.  This means I have 23 days before I start marathon training.  For the next 23 days I will run on my own schedule.  Kathy put together a very detailed training schedule.  If I follow this schedule the marathon will be a piece of cake.

The purpose of the blog is to communicate my training progress.  Writing it down will make me want to follow through with the plan.  I can do this!
