Long Run

Today I started my day by going to Dr. Lauren.  She worked on my plantar faciitis.  This involves a lot of work on the calf and foot.  I came home and got ready for my long run.  I started the run at 11:30 which is about when my coral starts the Boston marathon.

I ran from Sherman Beach to Rockwood Reservation.  I ran all the way up the hill to old Manchester.  Then on the way back I ran up the Rock Hollow Trail to put some hills in the end.

My goals today:
Run 20 miles
Be able to run again on Sunday
Run the second 10 miles faster than the first 10

My accomplishments
I ran/walked 20 miles.  This was big for my mental health.  I feel I need to run 20 miles before a marathon.
I was tired when I was finished and a bit dehydrated but I was feel I can run again after a day's rest.  I needed Kathy there with a cold Gatorade.  I have lots of Gatorade at home I just don't remember to put it in the car.
I ran the first 10 miles in 1:57:07.  The second 10 miles were much faster 1:52:00.  I made sure to keep the first 10 slow so I could get negative splits.  Average pace for first 10 miles was 11:42.  Average pace for second 10 miles was 11:12.  Overall average was 11:27 pace.  I was happy that I was able to run 20 miles.

The elevation gain for today's run was 762 feet.  The elevation gain for Boston Marathon is 783.

The weather was beautiful.  There were a lot of people on the trail.  It is spring break for many of the schools here so there were lots of kids and families out.
