There are a lot of things that need to happen for a perfect race. Some of them I can control and some of them I cannot:
1. Legs have to be strong to carry me through. I have followed the training plan and feel more prepared for this race than any race in the past.
2. Lungs and heart. The training plan has helped me build endurance. I feel strong.
3. Weather. I have no control over this but it looks like Sunday will be perfect for running.
4. Stomach and intestines. I can watch what I eat but sometimes the GI system does not cooperate.
5. The course. I have trained on hills and am ready for Cincinnati hills.
6. My mind. I am positive I can do this and it will be fun.
What will happen on Sunday is a great unknown; however, I feel I have done all that I could do to be ready and will be happy with any outcome.
Today I packed my bag. Tomorrow we leave. There was an easy run on the plan but it was cold and rainy all day. Kathy called and changed the plan to rest. I felt good and felt like running but I rested.
We will be in Cincinnati for Cinco de Mayo. It is not advised to drink margaritas and eat beans before running. We will also be in Cincinnati for the running of the Kentucky Derby. We will also abstain from mint juleps the day before the race. We need a pasta holiday.
