Today we are visiting Jim's parents. They live in the country. I ran 15 miles on country roads - some gravel and some asphalt. Jim was my support crew. He road his bike beside me and carried extra water. He also handed me pieces of granola bars when I needed a snack. I have been training with GU shot blocks but forgot to pack them. I did fine with granola bars. In the country everyone has dogs. Many of the dogs are not restrained. Jim's most important job was to protect me from dogs. I like dogs but respect dogs I don't know. Most of the dogs stayed in their yard. There were a few that came out in the street. Jim was my hero. He kept his bike between the dogs and me. One dog bit Jim's sock but he was fine. It was a beautiful day about 70 degrees. Besides dogs I saw horses, cows, goats and chickens. The horses and cows seemed curious about the crazy lady running down the street. They would come to the fence and stare at me. I had a great run. The route had some hills. I kept a steady pace and felt strong at the end. I ran the second half faster than the first half. Jim was the best crew ever.
